Oh No! Not Another Website About Running…
My name is John Boyd and I’m known as The Cool Car Guy. I own the website CoolCarGuy.com which is a car dealership in Lone Tree, Colorado. That’s me to the right, out on a trail in Castle Rock, CO where I snapped a quick photo. I don’t have one of those 26.2 stickers on the back of my car by the way.
When I’m not out delivering vehicles to people I am chasing down my other passion, which is running marathons and logging a couple thousands miles a year in a pair of running shoes or sandals. I try to log about 50 miles a week as part of my training. I don’t run fast, but I labeled myself a “free runner”. Which is someone who just runs for fun because I love to run. I am always chasing the elusive “runners high” that people talk about and it’s like a drug.
One of the main reasons people start running is because they want to lose weight and get healthy. If you start running consistently and you get up to where you are logging 30, 40 or 50 miles a week, you will literally run your butt off. The weight will fall off and your body will become a fat burning machine. I’ve seen it happen many times over the years. There are tremendous health benefits, especially for your heart and your lungs. Be careful though because many people become like me and my wife and are simply addicted to running. You might find that you become a free runner.
I am a running addict. I’ve ran a bunch of marathons and logged thousands of miles on my running watch. I’ve met many people who are passionate about running over the years, usually while running a marathon somewhere with my wife Becky or our other running friends. We’ve met some crazy runners over the years.
I thought it would be cool to create a blog called Running Your Ass Off and share my and other people’s passion for running. I’m not sure where this site will go. I figured I would write about some of my many running experiences and see if it helps anyone out there.
I know this guy George who runs on the Highline Canal all the time. We nick-named him “Slogger”, since he told me years ago that he’s just a “slow jogger”. He is over 80 years old and has ran numerous marathons and half-marathons. Each year, he goes up to Estes Park and runs the half-marathon. He’s in his 80’s and he’s still running because he loves to run.
Which just goes to show you something about running. You’re never too old or to young to start running. Anyone can do it with a pair of shoes, sandals or even their bare feet. You might be fast or you might be slow, it doesn’t matter as long as you get out there and start moving. There are people who love to run on every Continent of the planet.
